The Pomodoro Technique
Developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s, the Pomodoro Technique is a time management method that uses a timer to break down work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks.
The Rules
- Decide on the task to be done.
- Set the timer to 25 minutes.
- Work on the task until the timer rings.
- Take a short 5-minute break.
- Every four cycles, take a longer 15-30 minute break.
Acoustic Implementation
Using a pure tone timer removes the anxiety of a ticking clock and provides a clean, non-verbal alert when the cycle concludes.
